The IMLS Grants to States program operates on the federal fiscal year, which begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. Each grant award covers a two-year period, even though the funding is officially awarded in the second year of that period.
For example, the grant awarded in Fiscal Year 2025 supports activities that may span both FY 2024 (October 1, 2024 – September 30, 2025) and FY 2025 (October 1, 2025 – September 30, 2026).
